About Dr. Wallen
Jared Wallen, MD, is a urologist at YOU & WEE Urologic Surgery & Wellness in Sarasota, Florida. His goal is to help patients experience a better quality of life from many standpoints by resolving acute urological problems and keeping them safe with cancer screenings and state-of-the-art treatments.
Dr. Wallen grew up in a small village called Roscoe, Illinois, and graduated from the University of Illinois with a double major in psychology and molecular and cellular biology. He then attended Rush Medical College on the West side of Chicago for medical school. He was fortunate enough to travel to Guatemala during medical school to work in clinics and learn medical Spanish. This was a very rewarding experience for him, and while in Guatemala, he discovered his passion for hiking in the mountains. He also completed an executive MBA from the London School of Economics and Political Science.
Afterward, he completed a surgical internship and residency in urologic surgery at the University of South Florida in Tampa, Florida. During his residency, he participated in a surgical trip to Haiti, where they performed almost 80 procedures on 50 patients in five days. Additionally, Dr. Wallen worked with one of the best surgeons in men’s sexual health, Rafael E. Carrion, MD. He was also afforded opportunities to operate and train with Dr. Paul Perito, Dr. Steve Wilson, Dr. Gerard Henry, Dr. John Mulcahy, Dr. Tariq Hakky, Dr. Robert Valenzuela, and many others within the field.
Dr. Wallen has participated in numerous research studies, including national meeting presentations, journal article submissions, and video presentations. He also participated in a clinical research fellowship sponsored by Boston Scientific and Dr. Gerard Henry and continues to contribute to research within the field.
In his clinical practice, Dr. Wallen treats patients for conditions like low testosterone, erectile dysfunction, Peyronie’s disease, enlarged prostate, or other issues related to male sexual dysfunction or urinary issues. He also has special interests in minimally invasive surgery, including robotic surgery for benign and cancerous tumors.
Dr. Wallen is an internationally published researcher, has trained with some of the best surgeons in the field of men's sexual health, and is active in expanding his knowledge. He treats his patients like family members and empowers them to make the best choice for their life.
Outside of practicing medicine, Dr. Wallen enjoys completing triathlons and has finished the Half Ironman.
